Conference

The annual conference on cooperatives and the solidarity economy aims to fill this gap. It brings together academics and practitioners for the development of a robust knowledge base on the cooperative sector on the continent. The conference will create a platform for dialogue among academics, practitioners and policymakers for the co-creation of fit-for-purpose knowledge that will advance the cooperative agenda.

Publication in peer-reviewed conference proceedings: papers accepted and presented at the conference will be published in open access peer-reviewed conference proceedings.

The conference will be a two-day event with opening and closing plenaries. A panelist comprising eminent persons involved in the promotion of the cooperative movement will participate in the opening and closing plenaries.

  1. A pre-conference workshop will be held a day to the start of the conference with emerging/young researchers to deepen their research skills in studying cooperatives. It is envisaged that financial support will be provided to enable their participation.

  2. Throughout the two-day conference, there will be opportunities to interact with policy, government and cooperative development practitioners.
